What are NDIS Core Supports?
According to the NDIS, core supports help you with everyday tasks. They can help you complete regular tasks like cooking and cleaning, help you get involved in social and community activities, and can fund everyday purchases. You can use your core supports budget to pay support workers to help with these tasks in a way that helps you work towards your goals.
Support categories in a plan can be flexible or stated. The NDIS explains that when a category is flexible, you can use the total budget amount to buy those supports in the way that suits you best, and that some core supports are flexible. When a category is stated, the funding can only be used for the supports described in that budget.
How your plan is managed also matters. The NDIS describes three options: self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed, or a mix. Access is an unregistered NDIS provider, so we can support participants whose plans are self-managed or plan-managed, but not NDIA-managed plans.
If you’re not sure what your plan includes, check your plan in the my NDIS app or portal, or talk to your plan manager or support coordinator. You’re also welcome to talk to us about the support you’re looking for.
